Ahhhh. Spring is here! The decks in town are open. Beer is flowing and the sun is shining (sometimes). And if anyone is looking for Jo, you'll find her at garage sales hunting down some treasures. So all in all, things are pretty great around here and since we're in such a great mood, we thought we'd share some great music with you. Aren't you lucky?!

Two brand new records from two brand new bands hit shelves tomorrow, and I'm sure you've already been rocking both in the stores on a daily basis. In case you haven't, the recap on both The Globes and The Wilderness Of Manitoba are below. We also had to include the video for Hooray For Earth just one more time because we can't get enough of it.

The Globes "Future Self" [May 10]

Coming your way TOMORROW, May 10th is the debut full length album from Spokane, WA group The Globes, Future Self, on Barsuk Records (Redeye).  By now you are probably one of the many who have been waiting for Future Self after hearing their two previous EPs and seeing them on the road with Menomena, Minus the Bear, A Place to Bury Strangers, and Ra Ra Riot, among others.  Barely into their twenties, the Globes "subtly contrasts loud and quiet, making for carefully crafted guitar rock that's beautiful, but with a bang" (The Stranger).  The Globes give you "hints of darkness and discord... moody yet warm, deep and lovable. It's the ideal kind of music to get attached to, not demanding attention but definitely meriting it" (Seattle Weekly).  We're sure Future Self will grab your attention in 2011.

The Wilderness Of Manitoba "When You Left The Fire" [May 10]

Also coming your way TOMORROW, May 10th (LP on May 17)is Toronto band Wilderness of Manitoba's U.S. debut When You Left the Fire from tinyOGRE (RED).  "While their EP [Hymns of Love and Spirit] was more traditional and built more around vocal harmonies, [When You Left the Fire] sees the five piece from Toronto spreading their wings and challenging themselves" (hearya.com).  "Infusing 60s American and British folk touches with pop sensibilities and mostly forgoing drums for acoustic guitars and banjos, [Wilderness of Manitoba] use reverb-drenched three- and four-part harmonies to create lush, languid soundscapes that swirl with dreamy lap steel and carefully placed strings. Most interestingly, folk conventionalities slowly give way to genre-expanding experimentation as the album unfolds" (NOW Magazine). With even more praise from Brooklyn Vegan and RCRD LBL recently, you know this band will only gain momentum over time.

Catch them this spring as they tour the eastern US with Cloud Cult and Rasputina!
