Hey Everyone!

We might be bundled in winter coats again, but there were a couple days when we could walk outside without a million layers. This is what those of us in New England consider a sign of Spring. At this point in the winter, we're willing to grasp at anything that hints of no more snow piles. Let the countdown begin!

We have a lot of goodies for you this week, so please dig in deep. Also, let us know from now if you would like to do a display of posters in your store for the new REM record. Quantities are limited and we want to do our best to take care of everyone. You'll get your promos directly from Warner Bros just in time for release. And as always, if you don't get one, let us know so we can hook you up.

In this issue you'll find info about the new project from Oasis' front man Liam Gallagher - Beady Eye. We're obsessed with the single The Roller here in the office. Go find out why. Also, you'll find a quick recap of The Dears' most recent release that came out last week. Many of you are already killing it with this release, and for the rest of you: its time to follow in suit!

Lastly, Barsuk bands have been making quite a racket in the world of music videos. Have a view through each one and you'll see what we mean! They are all amazing, and getting a whole ton of attention from all over. MTV has even been playing the new Phantogram video in its entirety after most episodes of Skins! Beat that!

Beady Eye "Different Gear, Still Speeding" [Mar 1]

Line
Le Noise

We've got the triumphant return of Oasis to share with you today. Wait- what?? Kidding. Liam and most of his Oasis mates - including Andy Bell of RIDE (do we even need to mention who isn't involved?!) have formed Beady Eye and their debut album is out March 1st on Dangerbird Records (Fontana). Different Gear, Still Speeding is "thirteen songs that are loud, vibrant, exhilarating. It’s raw rock’n’roll one minute, and classic pop the next" (dangerbirdrecords.com). On Different Gear, Still Speeding, Beady Eye gives you "songs [that] are less oikish, more nimble and nuanced, than a lot of Oasis’ ponderous later music. [Beady Eye have brought you] big riffs, pounding drums, and basslines that prop up simple melodies" (bbc.co.uk). Producer "Steve Lilywhite has succeeded in bringing out the best in every member of the band and using that for the benefit of the greater good" (live4ever.uk.com). If you like your music minus the sibling drama, go ahead and put on Beady Eye; Liam has made sure you won't regret it.

For fans of: Oasis - "Definitely Maybe" & "(What's The Story) Morning Glory" - 'nuff said?

The Dears "Degeneration Street" [OUT NOW!]

Line
Degeneration Street

Now for a band who are constantly re-inventing themselves. We think this record will mark the third sonic rebirth of Canadian band The Dears. While we are fairly obsessed with Morrissey and any band that sounds similar - meaning we really enjoyed The Dears' earliest work, we absolutely love where this band has landed. These are easily the best songs this band has written.

Degeneration Street is a full on rock record, and it will knock you over. Its songs are huge, catchy, beautiful and require repeat listening. This record came out on February 15 on Dangerbird (Fontana). You will love this record, and people will hear it playing in the store and beg you to sell it to them early. Its that awesome. So start spinning it!
